Hey everybody, this is Lindseay Parker here at LPTV Licorice Pizza to break down the justannounced Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2025 inductees. Drum roll please. Okay, this year's inductees are Bad Company, Shubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cindy Looper. Yay.
Not that I'm biased or anything. Outcast, Sound Garden, and the White Stripes. For full disclosure, I did predict six of these, but I only voted for three. Cindy Looper, obviously, Sound Garden, and Outcast. I mean, I, you know, I can't win them all, but of course, all of these artists are worthy. So, congratulations to all of them. If you are a rock and roll hall of fame geek like I am, and you've been keeping track, this means that the Black Crows, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Joy Division, New Order, Mana, Oasis, and Fish all got passed over. I voted for Mariah, Billy, Oasis, and Joy Division. And I'm most upset about the Joy Division snub for a second year in a row. However, I have a feeling that the Fish snub right in the middle of their weekend playing three nights at the Hollywood Bowl is going to upset the most fans because Fish topped the Fanbo leaderboard by a whopping
330,000 votes. This was the second biggest margin in Rock Hall history for the fan vote, but the fan vote technically doesn't actually matter that much. FYI, it actually counts as one. one count one ballot vote among all the 1,200 ballots that are cast by music industry insiders including myself. So that's why I didn't move the needle in case you were wondering. The more delightful surprise for me this year however is the musical influence award. This is a special category determined by a committee and this year it's going to Warren Zevon who's long been considered one of the hall's biggest snubs and even more surprisingly and excitingly salt and pepper. Push it real good. Push them through into the hall. They've actually never been nominated before and now they're in. I'm so stoked. They will become the first female hiphop group to enter the hall and only the second female hip-hop artist overall after Missy Elliott got in in 2003. So, yay.
I'm excited about that because their inclusion is good news in light of the fact that there are actually very few female inductees this year. If you're keeping track in the performer category, there's only Cindy Looper and Meg White from the White Stripes. And the only other female honore overall is legendary wreck and crew basis Carol K. She is receiving something called the musical excellence award. This year's other two musical excellence honores recipients are late Philadelphia soul producer writer ranger Tom Bell and British keyboardist legend Nikki Hopkins. And the Ahmed Erdigan Award which recognizes industry professionals is going to executive Lenny Waricker. So, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2025 induction ceremony will take place Saturday, November 8th, right here in LA at the Peacock Theater. I will definitely be there cheering on everyone. But in the meantime, come on into Licorice Pizza to pick up all the inductees and nominees records, and I will see you soon. Congratulations to the class of 2025.
