LPtv New Music Guide: Friday, July 18th

Hey, this is Lindsay Parker here at Licorice Pizza Records with your new music guide for July 18th. Ellie's own indie folk heroes, Lord Hiron, are back with their fifth album. It is called The Cosmic Selector Volume 1. Remains to be seen if there will be a volume two, but for now, this is a pretty interesting record. It has spoken word from Kristen Stewart. Yes, the Kristen Stewart, the actress, and another guest appearance by Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead. So, pretty interesting. Check it out. Another interesting project out this week is from Laura Jane Grace. I'm sure you best know her from Fronting Against Me, the punk legends. But she's back with a new project called Laura Jane Grace in the Trauma Trope. Their debut album is called Adventure Club and its lead single is called My Me Mine and it is a protest song Against Capitalist Greed. Seems like a pretty appropriate anthem for our times right now. So, pick that one up too. '90s rockers Bush are back with their 10th album this week.

It's called Ibe Loneliness. Congratulations to them. It also seems like a fitting album for these times. It tackles themes of mental health, mental illness, isolation, and tapping into one's inner strength. So, check that one out. Darren Malakian from System of a Down. He's back, of course, with his other band, Scars on Broadway. This is their first album since incredibly 2018, and it is also timely. It is called Addicted to the Violence. Cult singer songwriter Alex G is releasing his very anticipated 10th album, Headlights this week. Also, New York hipsters We Are Scientists are returning with Qualifying Miles. And then finally, for something completely different, country queen Trisha Yearwood is back with her first album in 6 years. It is called The Mirror. So come on by Licorice Pizza to pick up these records and more. And I'll be back next week with more new music picks.
