PRE-ORDER: Steuart Liebig / Minim - Salt [CD], Steuart Liebig / Minim, CD

Prolific avant-garde bassist and composer Steuart Liebig's new album "Salt" is the third and final album of a series started in 2001 with his project Minim, this time featuring Breana Gilcher (Oboe, English Horn), Maggie Parkins (Cello), Vicki Ray (Piano) and Liebig (Eb Contrabass Guitars). This stunning work of chamber music features a collection of very short pieces, loosely based on the idea of Haiku, in which written thematic material prompts inspired improvisation from the ensemble. Originally slated for a 2020 recording, the project was put on hold due to the pandemic and ensuing societal and personal fallout, but is now finally seeing the light of day.The first two Minim albums, "Quicksilver" and "Sulpher" were released in 2004 and 2007, respectively. Now, at the end of 2026, Salt is a beautiful exploration of the intersection of concise composition and intricate improvisation featuring some of todays most compelling musicians.
