P.E. Lange-Müller (1850-1926) thought little of what he had made. He shrank from the honours his country pressed upon him - but Denmark heard it otherwise. Largely self-taught, a melodist by instinct, he set his tunes to a harmony no one had taught him, and across half a century he wrote more than two hundred songs that were sung and played in Danish homes as no others were. In this 6-CD set, the successor to Dacapo's Peter Heise: The Song Edition, pianist Christian Westergaard and thirteen of Denmark's finest singers bring together, for the first time, the heart of Lange-Müller's songbook.
