PRE-ORDER: Serenissma Ensemble - Cambini: Str Qnts Op. 13 [CD], Serenissma Ensemble, CD

There is one John Williams who is universally known: the creator of some of the most memorable themes in the history of cinema. But there is another more intimate side to him, perhaps still waiting to be discovered: the composer who, far removed from the screen, entrusts music alone with the task of telling the world's stories. It is precisely this lesser-known aspect of his artistry that this recording seeks to illuminate. Alongside the chamber arrangements of film music, the programme includes some of the most significant works from his concert output, culminating in the world's first complete recording of Seven for Luck, the American composer's only song cycle.
