Flowers Of Perennial Dissent [CD], Noah Lekas C., CD

Part poetry collection, part concept album, and part spiritual field journal, Flowers of Perennial Dissent finds poet Noah C. Lekas documenting six supervised psychedelic therapy sessions during recovery from a prolonged and nearly fatal illness. Across six narrative poems, Lekas serves as both participant and observer, chronicling encounters with ancestors, moments of revelation, spiritual collapse, and the struggle to make sense of extraordinary experiences. Acclaimed musicians Luther Dickinson, Charlie Parr, Anthony Pirog, Ethan Miller, and James Toth transform each piece into a rich blend of spoken word and psychedelic folk.Neither memoir nor traditional spoken-word record, the project unfolds as a deeply personal journey through healing, faith, consciousness, ego death, and survival. Drawing inspiration from Beat literature and Gonzo journalism, Flowers of Perennial Dissent is a singular literary and musical experience. Recommended for fans of Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, Jason Molina, Jack Kerouac, and Richard Brautigan, it offers a powerful meditation on recovery, meaning, and transformation.Lekas' previous projects earned the attention of legendary Rolling Stone editor David Fricke, who described Lekas' work as: ""Poetry and psychedelia, as if Tom Waits had hitched a ride on the Jefferson Airplane's version of Wooden Ships.""
