PRE-ORDER: Matt Holubowski - Inside The Merry Loop [180 Gram], Matt Holubowski, Vinyl

Multitudes, hope, and melancholy: These are the words that define Matt Holubowski and his music. A self-taught singer-songwriter from Quebec, he transforms his obsessions, contradictions, and periods of doubt into a compelling songs rooted in his own journey. The recipient of a Gold Record for "Solitudes" and winner of a Félix Award for "Flowers on a Molten Lawn", Matt Holubowski remains curious and ever-changing, turning uncertainty into the creative force that birthed his new album "Inside The Merry Loop".Within "Inside The Merry Loop", Matt Holubowski explores an evocative image: that of the merry-go-round. The cities that follow one another on tour, the pleasures that go on for too long and ultimately become destructive, the melancholia that fuels his songwriting, and the writing that eases that same melancholy. He observes these patterns that always bring us back to the same starting point, a repetition which at times appears inevitable.Co-produced alongside Warren Spicer (Plants and Animals, Unessential Oils) and with contributions from longtime creative partner Connor Seidel, Inside The Merry Loop is the result of several years of songwriting and personal experiences. Far from being the central concept, the idea of the carousel has become the thread that weaves together Holubowski's personal reflections in this new album."Inside The Merry Loop" is a multifaceted, poignant album carrying a note of hope. Holubowski makes no claim of knowing exactly how to escape the cycles he depicts, but rather seeks to illustrate their movements in order to better grasp them. Beneath his gaze lies a longing to take other paths and break the cycle in search of different stories. Stories that, despite their underlying melancholy, are rooted in the hope of living differently."Inside The Merry Loop" is out January 22 via Next Door Records.
