PRE-ORDER: Litauisches Kammerorchester - Echoes Of The Forest - Waldszenen & Clarinet Con [CD], Litauisches Kammerorchester, CD

The piano is becoming too confining for me, Robert Schumann lamented - sensing that entirely different sounds still lay dormant in his music. Andreas N. Tarkmann (b. 1956) has now awakened precisely those sounds. The composer and arranger is a master of subtle transformation. For his new CD, he has arranged two Schumann works for chamber orchestra - with astonishingly natural results. Waldszenen, Op. 82, originally written for piano, shine with new colors in Tarkmann's orchestral version. Schumann's Violin Concerto in D minor appears here as a clarinet concerto, transposed one note lower and gently reimagined. As a personal bonus, Tarkmann contributes his own miniature, September, for clarinet and string orchestra - an enchanting bonus track. Belgian clarinetist Roeland Hendrikx, known for his warm tone and subtle expression, performs alongside the renowned Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Vilmantas Kaliunas.
