PRE-ORDER: Fratellis - Eyes Wide Tongue Tied - Red/White Sunburst [Colored Vinyl], Fratellis, Vinyl

The Fratellis' critically acclaimed fourth studio album, Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied, is now available for the first time on limited sunburst vinyl. Following the release of 2013's We Need Medicine and a year of touring around the world, the band decamped to LA at the end of 2014 to work on album number four with Tony Hoffer (M83, Depeche Mode, Belle & Sebastian), who also produced their debut smash Costello Music. The unique, bright clarity of California sunshine seems to permeate the record as the band channels it into an album that captures what they do best: a fun, energetic soul reminiscent of their 2006 debut, with nods to '70s Cali-rock, rockabilly, Americana, and country layered throughout, creating a glorious homecoming rooted in both Scotland and LA. Standout tracks include the foot-stamping "Baby Don't You Lie To Me!," the spiraling riffs of "Getting Surreal" and "Thief," the strident brass and funk-driven bass line of "Dogtown," and the delicate, drifting "Moonshine," which brings the album to a reflective close. Praise for Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied includes The Guardian's note that the band "haven't lost their knack for super-catchy melodies," Mail On Sunday's description of "deceptively skilful rock 'n' roll," Q's "turbo-charged, melody-drenched tunes," The Independent's "catchy, country-pop charm," Mojo's comparison to "Lady Madonna" and Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground," and Uncut's observation that the album "adds a mid-Atlantic crunch to their sound and hints at new directions."
