About This Record
Dawning is a collaboration between Chicago creative music mainstay Damon Locks and Black chamber music collective D-Composed. The material was recorded live at The Land School, Rebuild Foundation's headquarters on Dorchester Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, where D-Composed & International Anthem are the inaugural creative partners in residence.The album's sonic palette pairs Locks' live sampling, beat knowledge, and spoken word swagger with D-Composed's take on the Black string ensemble with otherworldly results.
