Between Spooky Tooth and Matthews Southern Comfort, Andrew Leigh made a solo album that followed his imagination wherever it led. First released in 1970, Magician moves from pastoral folk and country-rock to psychedelic pop and the nine-minute electric excursion "Up The U.S.A." Acoustic guitars, banjo and recorder mingle with Mellotron and electric sitar, while a cast drawn from the British underground includes Kevin Westlake of Blossom Toes, Reggie King of the Action, Gary Farr, Gordon Jackson, Mike Kellie and Gary Wright. Leigh's songs and multi-instrumental arrangements give the record it's character: intimate, unhurried and always liable to take an unexpected turn. Digipak CD with a 12-page booklet featuring Andrew Leigh's own account, photographs and period ephemera. Newly remastered by Prof. Stoned, with the bonus album outtake "The Passing."
