Inspired by a fictional members' club dreamt up in the early '70s and imagined as existing in the "future" (the '80s), the album channels a world reminiscent of a '20s or '30s speakeasy - glamourous, smoky, and populated by colorful characters. Although the album was demo-ed at the time it was never released, and only revisited decades later.
