Billy Preston - "Encouraging Words" [Gold LP] Billy Preston's fifth studio album, Encouraging Words, was released in September 1970 through Apple Records. It marked his second and final project for the Beatles' label before signing with A&M Records. Co-produced by Preston and George Harrison, the album featured the first released versions of Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" and "My Sweet Lord," appearing two months ahead of Harrison's own recordings on his landmark triple album, All Things Must Pass. Preston's take on "My Sweet Lord" was issued as a single and reached #90 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1971, though the album itself did not chart in the US or UK. While commercially overlooked, Encouraging Words has since been praised by some critics as one of Apple's strongest non-Beatles releases. Billy Preston - "That's The Way God Planned It" [Purple LP] Billy Preston's fourth studio record, That's The Way God Planned It, came out in August 1969 on Apple Records. Neil Young - Tonight�s The Night 50th Anniversary Deluxe Limited Edition In 1975, Neil Young released Tonight�s The Night, an album that is widely regarded as one of the masterpieces in his catalog. The album was recorded in 1973, following the major success of his album Harvest, but it was not released for two more years. The album is dedicated to two of Neil�s close friends, Danny Whitten and Bruce Berry, who both died in the year before this album was recorded. Recorded on analog tape, Tonight�s The Night includes some of Young�s most brilliant and emotionally moving songs. In addition to the two versions of the title track, the album features �Borrowed Tune�, �World on a String�, �Mellow My Mind�, �Tired Eyes�, �Come On Baby Let�s Go Downtown�, "Albuquerque� and �Roll Another Number (For The Road)�. For the 50th anniversary edition of this album, Young has replaced �Lookout Joe� with an unreleased version, also from the original album sessions at SIR studios in 1973. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tonight�s The Night, the album has been expanded with six additional songs. The versions of �Walk On� and �Tonight�s The Night [take 3]� have never been released. �Everybody�s Alone�, �Raised On Robbery� (featuring Joni Mitchell) and �Speakin� Out Jam� were included on Neil Young Archives Vol. II, and the version of �Wonderin�� has only been available to stream on NYA. None of the bonus tracks have been previously released on vinyl. Tonight�s The Night 50th Anniversary Deluxe limited edition will be released on vinyl, CD and digitally. In The Big Room captures Peter Gabriel and band recorded live in the Big Room at Real World Studios on 23 November, 2003. 'I�d not really taken advantage of the big room as a performance space myself and when, in 2003, the opportunity came up, we grabbed it and offered the small number of seats to members of the Full Moon club. It was not part of a big tour so we weren�t as polished and rehearsed as we might have been while on tour, but it made for a more awake and edgy performance, as we were fully concentrating on what we were doing. There was no elaborate visual show, the whole focus was about making it sound good. A four-note motif that repeats with variations represents the creature itself, played tenderly on plucked strings with solo piano as counterpoint. However, that initially bright and questioning tone shifts as the creature experiences its life as Victor demands, and the tragedy of the creature and the story come into focus. Desplat�s score transitions into a deeply melancholy mood as both creator and creation descend into their own personal hell, albeit with less fury and more reflection and introspection, with a true emotional resonance. Frankenstein ends with a glorious reprisal of its themes, a showcase of Alexandre Desplat�s talent and the inspiration of Guillermo Del Toro and Mary Shelley. It�s a work that stands proudly alongside previous musical iterations and is another evolution in the ongoing collaboration between Del Toro and Desplat. IDLES and acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan) quickly formed a creative kinship, united by a deep mutual respect for each other’s work. When Aronofsky began developing his latest film, Caught Stealing (starring Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz) he turned to IDLES, his favorite band, to shape the film’s sonic identity. Drawing inspiration from the gritty energy of the 1990s New York punk scene that permeates the film, IDLES contributed four original tracks, a striking cover of “Police & Thieves,” and recorded the full film score, composed by Rob Simonsen (Deadpool & Wolverine, The Whale, Foxcatcher).

The Who's eighth studio album, is to be released in a suite of formats including a super deluxe edition, this October featuring over 70 unreleased tracks including never before heard versions of the title track WHO ARE YOU, newly mixed live tracks from their first tour without original drummer Keith Moon, and candid recordings of the band rehearsing in 1977 and 1978. Also included in the 7CD/1 Blu-ray set are brand-new Atmos & Stereo mixes by Steven Wilson. The album will also be released as a deluxe 4LP box set, a 2CD deluxe edition. Initially released in August 1978, WHO ARE YOU marked a significant chapter in The Who's career while a commercial triumph, peaking at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and achieving double platinum status and No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart, it was also tragically the last album to feature legendary drummer Keith Moon, who died a week after its release. The album saw the band pushing boundaries once more, with the songs referencing the incoming influence of British Punk. Most notably, the title track was written after a night out with Steve Jones & Paul Cook of The Sex Pistols, and it reflected the sentiments of Music Must Change and Sister Disco. Pete Townshend also delivered some of his most ambitious and intricate arrangements, incorporating layers of synthesizers and strings into The Who's powerful backing tracks. Title track WHO ARE YOU preceded the album in early July 78 and became an instant anthem and has remained in the band's set list to this day. Aided by its appearance in the CSI TV franchise in the early 2000s it is one of the band's most streamed tracks. The initial sessions for the album took place at the band's Ramport Studios, produced by Glyn Johns and Jon Astley. However, the recording process was fraught with challenges and creative tensions. The Who Are You Super Deluxe Edition finally tells the whole story, featuring, for the first time, the rejected original Glyn Johns mix of the album, a newly remastered version of the released Jon Astley mix and fly on the wall rehearsal sessions from Shepperton Studios, which the band owned at the time, and a wealth of unreleased material including demos, alternate takes and in the case of standout track Sister Disco, a previously 'lost' guitar solo rescued from the multi-track tapes by Steven Wilson. In 1978, the album was seen as a return to form for The Who, and anticipation for a tour to support the album was high. Sadly, the death of Keith Moon on 23rd August put paid to any such plans. The band introduced their new drummer, Kenney Jones, formerly of The Faces and The Small Faces, in May 1979, along with new keyboard player John' Rabbit' Bundrick. One of the many highlights of the super deluxe edition is the newly mixed live tapes from the US leg of the 1979 tour, capturing The Who's explosive new lineup in full flight with tracks from the album coming to life onstage with a renewed energy. The band sustained that energy into the new decade with the epic The Kids Are Alright film project, the Quadrophenia movie, and the multi-platinum Face Dances album in 1981.

Phish's first show at Worcester Centrum, a 14,800-capacity hockey arena, was their fifth annual New Year�s Eve show. The band added new sounds to their sonic palette that year and spent the fall recording their fifth studio album, Hoist, so they we armed with a fresh batch of sounds and material. For more than three decades, AFI has been in a nearly constant state of reinvention. The band have made it a point to evolve with every album-sometimes dramatically so-never allowing themselves to become too comfortable in one genre or rest on any of their impressive career laurels. It's an approach that has grown their audience but also challenged it with a sonic identity that can shift in wild, unexpected directions. Now with their twelfth album, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun..., AFI are once again at the start of a bold new chapter, only this time they've even managed to surprise themselves. How does a band that's known for creative upheaval still find ways to push themselves out of their comfort zones? Typically the group would start an album by immediately throwing themselves into writing and simply letting their intuitive musical shorthand guide the process, but for Silver Bleeds the Black Sun... AFI set out to purposely change their creative approach all together. This time it started with a conversation: how could they break new ground? The key to moving forward actually ended up coming from AFI's collective past. "We started with something that sounded like Echo & the Bunnymen," explains guitarist Jade Puget, who produced and engineered the album. "But eventually we ended up with this melange of death rock and post-punk-all this stuff from the late '70s and early '80s that we grew up on, like Sisters of Mercy, and Bauhaus, and Siouxsie and the Banshees." The goal became making an album with a singular mood, something dreamy and ethereal, and the band members found themselves diving headfirst into influences that had always been deeply embedded in AFI's musical core, but now were being brought to the forefront. Silver Bleeds the Black Sun... is dark and otherworldly, but also grandiose and stately, biting and beautiful in equal measure-in other words, it's very AFI, yet not quite like any version of the band you've ever heard before.
