Celebrating 50 years of Philadelphia International Records, The Sound Of Philadelphia series celebrates the label like never before. Get on Board the Soul Train, Satisfaction Guaranteed and now Love Is The Message each contain eight albums on CD and an exclusive 12" vinyl disc, all luxuriously presented with a booklet telling the story of how this iconic label evolved in Philadelphia to become truly international. These three volumes contain 24 albums on the legendary label by artists including Billy Paul, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The O'Jays, The Intruders, The Three Degrees, Thad Jones, Bunny Sigler and more. The series, in which all albums are re-mastered from the original tapes, courtesy of Sony Music, Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff who have been personally involved in these landmark anniversary collections, maps the history of Philadelphia International Records (PIR) chronologically. Housed in a stylish 48 page slip-cased book, it also includes a numbered certificate of authenticity, an exclusive 12" single featuring two of the central stars of the Philly story and a unique poster. The detailed 48 page hard cover book, including rare photographs, was compiled and curated in association with PIR artists, engineers and producers, with liner notes by Tony Cummings (author of 'The Sound of Philadelphia') and a foreword by Ralph Tee.
